I first saw VR systems about 2 years ago when a friend of mine was playing his and at first I did not know what to think of it. He had the MetaQuest 2 and from what I saw it looked questionable at best, but I was curious. In my mind, I was an " old school" gamer, brough up on things like the Atari, super nintendo, PC, playstation, and the 64; so, needless to say a concept beyond PC or console almost sounded like it could have been a waste of my time and money. After months of seeing others playing all these different games and doing research into different VR consoles, I decided, maybe I could take the dive. and if I dont like, I could just sell it off to someone who does right?
After plenty of though I decided to take the plunge, but I needed to decided which VR headset was the one for me. After a bunch of research into what models and platforms were out there, I decided the MetaQuest 3S was the one for me. I had purchased my VR headset about 7 months ago and I did not think that this gaming system would be as awesome as it is. Not only can you play games on it, but you can watch movies on a screen as large as the room, check your social apps and emails, and everything is linked straight to your phone for ease of access. VR has different levels of immersion and interactivity. You can use the controllers, and some come with ankle monitors as well. VR stands for Virtual Reality which means that what you are experiencing is completely virtualized. There is also AR which is Augmented Reality which integrated some virtual reality concepts into the real world around you; so it is only a partial lens. In the VR world there are many variations in between these two worlds of VR and AR, but those are the two that most needs to understand from the beginning. I left some links on this page to help give you some ideas as to what VR is like a bit more, and I hope you enjoy!
